INTERPRETER SKILLS-BUILDING WORKSHOP
Haitian Creole

Saturday, March 27 - Sunday, March 28, 2010
Miami Dade College, InterAmerican Campus

Join your colleagues for Haitian Creole language-specific court interpreter skills-building training. The instructor for these workshops will be:

Joëlle Haspil, federally certified Haitian Creole court interpreter

Ms. Haspil holds Federal Certification in both Haitian Creole and Spanish as well as State Certification in French and has been interpreting in these three languages for the Florida courts in Miami since 1978. She is a consultant and frequent instructor in the Florida State interpreter-training program and has also served as an instructor and trainer for the State of Georgia.

These classes will include language-specific practice in the three modes of interpreting used in court and other legal settings, i.e. consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, and sight translation.

Participants in this Haitian Creole Skills-building Workshop must already have interpreting experience in order to register for the class.

Class size is strictly limited so be sure to register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Scholarships will be available for the first 20 registrants, so that tuition for this 2-day workshop will be only $75.00 for the first 20 Haitian Creole interpreters to sign up.

SSTI, NAJIT, Miami Dade College, InterAmerican Campus and TN Communications are proud to sponsor these trainings in Miami, Florida. In light of the severe humanitarian crisis in Haiti following the devastating earthquake in January, SSTI, NAJIT, Miami Dade College and TN Communications are providing the generous support that has made it possible to offer these classes at a substantially reduced rate.
